Transit Oriented Development (TOD) promotes compact, pedestrian-friendly, mixed-use development around transit stations and corridors. TOD enables the realization of important economic development goals, helps to increase transit ridership and reduce automobile reliance, increases mobility choices, and provides a strong “sense-of-place” for station areas. Design Collective has prepared station area plans and architectural design services for numerous transportation agencies and public private partnerships for a variety of TOD projects. Whether TOD is promoted along an existing system, or as part of system expansion, successful cities are taking advantage and promoting the increasing affinity for living and workplace environments which require less dependence on automobiles.
